Peace in action by Colectivo Tomate / Paz en acción por Colectivo Tomate

Since 2009 Colectivo Tomate a Mexican NGO has worked in Mexico creating projects that build peace through participation, dialogue and art. Colectivo Tomate creates spaces for connection between people that live in barrios within different cities in Mexico. During this session we will explore some elements of the Colectivo Tomate methodology, its goal and some challenges it has faced. Tomas Dario is founder of Colectivo Tomate and former director, who directed the organization during 10 years. He currently is its advisor and forms part of the board.

Desde 2009 Colectivo Tomate ha trabajado en México, proyectos de construcción de paz mediante la participación, el diálogo y el arte. Crea espacios de conexión entre las personas que viven en barrios dentro de distintas ciudades en México. En esta sesión se explorará brevemente algunos elementos de la metodología de intervención, su objetivo y algunos retos que ha enfrentado. Tomás Darío es fundador del Colectivo Tomate y fue su director durante 10 años. Actualmente forma parte del consejo y funge como asesor de la organización.

Elicitive facilitator, practitioner. Founded Hamable and Colectivo Tomate. Two Mexican organizations that create spaces for encounter and connection among people. Using elicitive methodologies that invite people to participate and create collectively.

Currently he is a doctoral student at the University Jaume I, from Castellon. He did a master degree in Peace Studies at the University of Innsbruck, UNESCO Chair. He studied law in the Center for Economic Research and Teaching. He was a consultant for United Nations on Projects on justice and gender. Advisor for the Justice Commission in the Mexican Senate. Worked for Partners for the Democratic Change, the Latin American Social Sciences Faculty (FLACSO) and the Center for Urban Security and Prevention.

He was awarded the prize Razon de Ser by Fundacion Merced, the prize Cemex-Tec, the prize Quorum, Crear Valor and the Better Cities Film Festival.

Facilitador elicitivo, practicante. Fundador de Hamable Consultores y Colectivo Tomate, organizaciones mexicanas que generan espacios de encuentro y conexión entre las personas. Utilizando herramientas elicitivas que invitan a la participación y la creación colectiva.

Cursa el doctorado en la Universidad Jaume I de Castellón, España. Estudió la maestría en Estudios de Paz por la Universidad de Innsbruck, Cátedra UNESCO. Abogado del Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas. Fue consultor para Naciones Unidas en proyectos de género y justicia. Fue asesor de la Comisión de Justicia en el Senado. Trabajó para el Centro de Colaboración Cívica, la FLACSO y para el Centro de Seguridad Urbana y Prevención.

Recibo el reconocimiento Razón de Ser de la Fundación Merced, Premio Cemex-Tec, Premio Quorum, Crear Valor y el premio a documental en arte urbano por el Better Cities Film Festival.
